Hoteles Bern welcomes visitors and tourists

After nearly a year of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bern Hotels & Resorts and adventure travel company Panamazing have reopened and are welcoming visitors back to Panama. Operating within Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and government guidelines, The Westin Playa Bonita, the Crowne Plaza Airport, and the Intercontinental Miramar have reopened. Dreams Playa Bonita and The Westin Panama will reopen in April 2021.

“We are thrilled to be able to welcome visitors back to our hotels,” said Herman Bern, Jr., president of Bern Hotels & Resorts Panama. “We are also pleased to bring back our associates who have been working diligently to maintain and enhance the properties while performing a deep cleaning and upgrade to provide a superior guest experience.”

In addition to deep cleaning and updates, Berna properties offer a free antigen test on-site for any guest staying a minimum of five nights, facilitating their return to their home country. Tocumen International Airport reopened to international guests on October 12 and now requires a valid antigen or PCR test taken within the last 48 hours to enter Panama. If a guest arrives without a current test, one can be obtained at the airport with results in two hours for a one-time fee of $50.

There is no quarantine for passengers with negative tests, except for those arriving from Great Britain or South Africa, who must quarantine for 14 days. While there are no restrictions on movement within the country, guests must be in their hotel rooms by 10:00 pm to comply with the nightly curfew, which is still in effect.

Some hotels across the country remain closed, but for those that have been able to open, all regular services are permitted, including access to restaurants, beaches, and swimming pools. Masks and social distancing are required. “There are many swimming pools at our resorts,” said Bern, “which allows for easy social distancing.”

In addition to hotel restaurants, eateries and rooftop bars are open until 10:00 p.m., including those in the Old Town entertainment district. Shopping malls, supermarkets, and pharmacies are open during regular hours, and events for up to 25 people are permitted at hotels and resorts. In certain cases, a special permit can be requested from the Ministry of Health through any of Bern’s hotels for events that need to exceed 25 participants.

“We expect things to ease up over the next few months and weeks as we complete vaccinations and the virus is better contained in other countries,” Bern said. “We are happy to see the gradual reopening and feel very positive about the measures taken in Panama to ensure the safety of our citizens and guests.”

Bern continued, saying that hotels are offering “rates we haven’t seen in years. We want people to come to Panama and have fun, so take advantage of deals with up to 50% off. Now is the time to discover our amazing country!”
