Empresas Bern, as an active member of the Global Pact of the UN created the non-profit Fundación Bern (Bern Foundation), an entity primarily directing its efforts towards the integral education of young people in areas of great need.
Today, Fundación Bern built and operates two schools with over 900 students from kinder to 9th grade. The schools includes 50 classrooms, Auditorium, labs, music rooms, etc. it is expected that these two schools will grow over the next three years to its maximum capacity of 1200 students.
The professional teachers who work at the Institutes cover many areas such as English, Computer Science, Mathematics, Christian formation and Folklore among others. Likewise, the administrative personnel of the schools are people committed, not only to the integral education of the students, but to the service to the community.
As part of complete education plan, in which the academic, spiritual and cultural formation of the individual are integral, these schools continuously makes activities that promote the artistic expressions of the students in order to cultivate the talents the students have. The Institutes make much emphasis in artistic expressions and activities for academic reinforcing, celebrating allusive activities to certain subjects that vary weekly. In several occasions, students of these establishments have represented our country abroad, performing to the best standards.
The “Bern Institutes” are located in Las Americas, Panama city, and in Valle Dorado in La Chorrera.

- Instituto Bern - Las Americas
Located at las Mañanitas in Tocumen, in the outskirts of Panama City, is a low income working class area with a population of more than 100,000.
- It has been opened since 1999, and it started with 140 students.
- It currently has 700 students ranging from 1st grade to 9th grade, including pre-school, too.
- It also has computer labs, a cafeteria, and an auditorium with a capacity for 600 people.
- It also has a chapel to complement with the Christian development of the students.
- It has a Folklore group, sport teams, a Congos group and a children’s choir.

- Bern Institute Valle Dorado in Chorrera
Located in the sleeper-town of Chorrera, some 30 miles west of Panama City, with a very large population of more than 80,000 residents.
- It started operating in the year 2002, but it was officially inaugurated on May 2003.
- It has 14 classrooms, a library, a computer lab, the administration office and a first aid room.
- It started with 50 students from pre-school to 1st grade.
- Currently in 2006 it already has 200 students.
